Comprehensive ADHD Assessments in Ottawa

Our clinic specializes in comprehensive ADHD assessments for children, adolescents, teenagers, and young adults (typically ages 6 to 21) in Ottawa. Our ADHD evaluations are designed to accurately diagnose Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), differentiate it from other conditions, and provide targeted recommendations to support learning, behavior, and overall well-being.

Why Choose a Comprehensive ADHD Assessment

Diagnosing ADHD is a complex process that requires more than a simple checklist or brief screening. A thorough ADHD assessment is essential to accurately identify ADHD, understand its impact on daily life, and guide evidence-based treatment planning. Our holistic approach ensures that all relevant factors are considered:

  • ADHD Symptom Profile and History: We evaluate which ADHD symptoms are present, when they first appeared, and how they have changed over time.

  • Impact Across Settings: Our assessment explores how ADHD symptoms affect functioning at home, at school, and in social situations.

  • Screening for Co-occurring Conditions: Many children and adolescents with ADHD also experience anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, or sleep disorders. Our comprehensive ADHD evaluation screens for these overlapping or co-existing conditions.

What is Involved in a Comprehensive ADHD Assessment

Our ADHD assessments include multiple evidence-based components to ensure accurate diagnosis and effective recommendations:

  • Parent & Child Interviews: Detailed interviews to gather developmental, medical, educational, and behavioral history.

  • Behavioral Observations: Structured observation of behavior in the clinic setting and review of behavior in other environments.

  • Standardized ADHD Questionnaires: Validated rating scales completed by parents, teachers, and (when appropriate) the client.

  • Co-occurring Condition Evaluation: Screening and assessment for additional concerns such as learning disabilities, anxiety, or mood disorders.

  • Cognitive & Academic Testing: Direct assessment of cognitive abilities, executive functioning, attention, and academic skills as needed.

Why a Full ADHD Assessment Matters

ADHD symptoms often overlap with those of anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, and sleep disorders. A comprehensive ADHD assessment is necessary to distinguish between these conditions.

  • Children and adolescents may display different ADHD symptoms in various settings, making context-specific assessment essential.

  • Every individual with ADHD has a unique set of strengths and challenges, requiring personalized recommendations.

  • Early identification of co-occurring conditions through a thorough ADHD evaluation can significantly improve academic, social, and emotional outcomes.

    Assessment Cost

Our fees align with the standards set by the Ontario College of Psychologists ($250 per billable hour). A comprehensive ADHD assessment typically requires 12–14 hours from intake to feedback.

Clients pay half the estimated cost at the midpoint of the assessment process, with the balance due at completion. A detailed written ADHD assessment report is provided at the end of the process.

Does my Insurance Cover the Assessment Costs?

If you have health insurance, check with your provider to see if they will cover the cost of a psychological assessment. Some insurance companies will only pay for part of the cost or have a limit on how much they will pay. They might also require a referral from your primary care doctor or another healthcare professional.

Each client is provided with signed invoices detailing each hour to submit to their insurance provider.
